             What is Craniosacral Therapy

In watching a crainosacral therapist at work you would be forgiven in thinking they weren't doing anything, as they sit still for several minutes while holding a patients head, spine or feet. But you couldn't be further from the truth!

Upledger Craniosacral therapists learn through developing and using the sense of touch,  living tissue breathes, pulsates and moves rhythmically.

  •  (UCST) is a very gentle, powerful manipulative technique  that has its origins in Osteopathy. It is used to correct imbalances in the Craniosacral system, thereby assisting the bodys natural ability to heal itself.

  • This system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the head (skull) down to the tail bone (sacrum

  • The Craniosacral System maintains the environment in which the central nervous system functions Its role in the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord is so vital that an imbalance in it can cause  sensory, motor or neurological dysfunction, causing problems in many areas of the body.

  • The movement patterns of the body structure and the central nervous system(CNS) known as thecraniosacral rhythm, are so subtle they cannot usually be seen, but they can be felt by trained hands and can be measured by delicate electronic instruments.
